Admirable chairs, delegates, admins, press, advisors and guests.
It is a great honor and a privilege to serve as the Deputy Secretary General for the Korean International School Model United Nations 2016 (KISMUN 2016).
Since the beginning of this year, the Leadership Development Programme (LDP) members, including the Secretary General and the Deputy Secretary General were bound up in the preparation for the KISMUN 2016. As the preparation was under way we faced numerous impediments. If it hadn’t been for the LDP members, for both the Deputy Secretary General and Secretary General, opening the door of KISMUN 2016 would have been impossible. I would also like to thank Mr. Jason who has always been so passionate to have this conference held today.
KISMUN 2016 is very special in that we have two very special guests attending the conference. The Deputy Secretary-General would like to give a warm welcome to the Lawrence School students. As KISMUN 2016 being the first official international MUN conference, he looks forward into having a more prosperous KISMUN in the future.
Model United Nations, for the past few years, gave me a huge influence. In the first conference that I attended, I was intimidated by the atmosphere. I couldn’t say a word for the first 2 days. Had it not been for my friend, the current Secretary General, my first Model United conference would have ended as a nightmare. Had it not been for him, I would never have achieved the courage to stand up on the podium. Speaking on my experience, it is only the first few times where you feel intimidated. As the Deputy Secretary-General, he would like to say one thing. Do not feel afraid, but feel free to speak up. Do not feel fear in taking the first step as a global member. Enjoy the conference and show your passion. Thankyou.
Sincerely
Do Hyeon Kwon
